Mecham Dream Home || Living Room Reveal
Hey everyone! We are so excited to share our first room reveal for our Mecham Dream Home Project. We started working with Ellie + Jared Mecham about 8 months ago, and started designing with them from their floorplan up! It has been such an incredible and fun experience to work on such an amazing home, with even more amazing people.
The Design
We are showcasing the Living Room with all the design must-haves and sources! In this room, the Mechams wanted a beautiful space to welcome people into their home, while still having it kid-friendly and comfortable enough that their guests feel like they can kick their shoes off and relax.
Also, with already having a basement family room that was completely casual and comfy, we wanted this space to feel different enough but still "live-able". How do you get this you may ask? Well, let me tell you...
The trick to balance out a more formal feeling room and still having it comfy and kid-friendly is to use tailored lines and soft finishes. Yes, that means no more over-sized furniture, say good-bye to scrolly and elaborate lines. You want clean, simple design that emphasize definition and structure, and then balance it out with tufting and cushioned finishes. For example, we used two upholstered ottomans instead of a coffee table so that they still had a place to put their books and drinks, but then could easily be cleared off for their kids to play. The tufting on the ottoman gave it detail and much needed interest, and the fabric kept it soft and cozy.
The Color Palette
We went with soft hues of blues, greys, and off-whites and accented with darker navys and pinks. We wanted the focal point of the room to be the rug anchored with the dark navy otto-benches in the middle, and then to build the room from there on up. The sofas are a beautiful light grey, and the walls and art softly compliment the open airiness of the room. The result? Stunning....

**Out of respect to our clients, we share some but not all sources**
My favorite part was watching Ellie + Jared's cute boys playing on the ottomans after we finished the design install. This space turned out perfect for their family, and couldn't be happier with how it all came together! Stay tuned for the rest of their home reveal! What room would you like to see next?

Andrea

I want to know about those floors! I want them!
ReplyDeleteHi Christina! These are solid wood hickory floors. The stain is a custom stain we made with the flooring company. If you do a medium warm brown you should be close! Hope that helps!
DeleteBeautiful Job! Definitely using your work as inspiration for our living room.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteI absolutely love the artwork! Would you mind telling me the name of the artist for the large painting? I'm looking for something similar
ReplyDeleteThe large art painting above the sofa is through Wendover Art, which is a vendor that sells directly to Interior Designers. Hope that helps!
DeleteI want to know of those 3 pillows on the one couch (blue, black&white and coral) please!
ReplyDeleteThese are from a variety of vendors and can be ordered through us!
